How to Download Photo Template Backgrounds from Salsa Marketing Materials
In this video, you’ll learn how to:
Access the Marketing Materials
Navigate the photo template backgrounds
Choose the correct layout for your selected background
Download blank templates
Download custom fonts
Step One
Select Photo Templates from the Marketing Materials
Photo Templates can be found within the Marketing Materials section of the Salsa web app.
Selecting the Photo Templates should open the Dropbox folder in a new tab for you to navigate and narrow down the exact template you want.
Note: If Photo Templates does not open to the Dropbox folder, make sure that your browser is not blocking pop-up windows from the Salsa web app.
Step Two
Select a Template Size
In the first section of the Photo Template folder, you’ll see folders marked by print sizes: 2x6, 4x6, and 6x6.
Open the folder with the size of the template you are looking for. You’ll find the matching size templates inside.
The sizes relate to the different photo template layout options within the Template Editor in the Event Settings.
Example: If you’re looking for photo strips, you will want to select 2x6.
The Photo Template folder also includes:
Blank Templates – Want to design templates from scratch? Use the blank templates as guide (or give them to your designer).
Fonts – Includes resources for finding the fonts used in the photo templates.
Mock Ups – Use these sample images to show clients what the template layout choices look like. You can also use them on your website to market templates as a great feature add-on.
Important: Do not click Download on this page, as it will attempt to download all files within the Photo Template folder. The download will fail as the total size of all the templates is too large.
What To Know
Photo Template Sizes
The size of a photo template refers to how big the photo template will be, in inches, if it were to be printed.
Photo templates can be sent digitally, such as through text or email, and thus don’t require a printer to use for your event.
The size of the template can be selected in the Template Editor when choosing a layout.
Each size has multiple options based on the size and orientation, or aspect ratio, of the individual photos within the template, such as Portrait, Landscape, and Square.
Salsa supports the following template sizes:
2x6
4x6
4.5x6
6x6
Note: The 4.5x6 templates only support single photos, and thus do not use a photo template background. If using a 4.5x6 template, you will want to add an overlay.
Step Three
Select a Template Design
After selecting a photo template size, you can then select a design. These are organized based on style and event theme, such as templates with flowers patterns or holiday related designs and colors.
Example: If your event does not have a specific theme, you may want to choose something like Abstract for an artsy look or Foundry for a clean, minimal look.
Note: Some style/theme folders have additional folders within which include additional variations on that theme.
Step Four
Select a Template Layout
After you have selected the style or theme, you’ll be presented with a number of individual template files to choose from.
The template files are named based on the size and orientation, or aspect ratio, of the individual photos within the template – Portrait, Landscape, and Square.
The aspect ratio of the individual photos is automatically set when selecting a Template Layout from the Template Editor.
Note: The template files might be displayed as large thumbnails by default, which might cut off the file names. To view the files in a list, click the View Option in the top right.
What To Know
Photo Template Layouts
The photo template layout determines the placement of each individual photo within the template, as well as the size and orientation, or aspect ratio, of the individual photos.
Each photo template size includes multiple options for different layouts, such as Portrait, Landscape, and Square.
By default, the Template Editor will display all templates with individual images in a Portrait 3:4 aspect ratio. You can choose a different aspect ratio or select Show All to reveal all available Photo Template Layouts.
To select a different aspect ratio or show all:
Log in to the Salsa web app
Select an event or create a new event
Click Configure Event
Click Event Capture Settings
From Modes, click the Settings Gear in the Photo tile
Click Use Template Library
Click the Aspect Ratio dropdown
Select an aspect ratio or Show All
Note: Smaller screens may not display all options in the dropdown. To view all the options, scroll down in the dropdown menu.
Step Five
Download the Template
Selecting an individual template file brings up the file preview.
From here you can download it to your computer or cycle through other templates in that folder using the controls at the bottom.
You can download the template by clicking the download button (sometimes displayed as an arrow pointing down) and selecting Direct Download.
You can select Save to my Dropbox if you’re signed into your own Dropbox account. However, you won’t be able to edit the template until it is on a computer.
