How To Print Using Airprint
In this video, you will learn how to:
Connect the Aircast Pro 3 (or other AirPrint dongle) to your iPad
Connect the Fiesta App to your AirPrint dongle
Set up Printing in Fiesta
Step One
Set Up Airprint In Fiesta
The first step when preparing to use an AirPrint dongle is to set up printing through Fiesta.
To turn on AirPrint in your Fiesta event:
Log in to the Fiesta App
Select an event or create a new event
Select Configure Event in the upper right
Select the Sharing tab
Select the toggle beside Printing in the left navigation menu to turn on
Once AirPrint is on, you can adjust whether there is a print button or automatic prints, the number of of prints per session, and the maximum number of prints per event.
To adjust the AirPrint settings:
Log in to the Fiesta App
Select the event you wish to adjust the settings
Select Configure Event in the upper right
Select the Sharing tab
Select Printing from the left navigation menu
To turn on the print button:
select the toggle next to Print Button
To adjust the maximum number of prints:
select the + and - buttons under Print Button
To turn on Auto Print:
select the toggle next to Auto Print After Each Session
To adjust the maximum number of prints per event:
select the + and - buttons under Maximum Prints Per Event
Note: 0 allows for unlimited prints
Step Two
Connect The AirPrint Dongle
After the Fiesta event has been set up, and you are setting up at your event, the next step is to set up printing through Fiesta.
These steps are for the Aircast Pro 3; while there are variations in these steps depending on which AirPrint dongle you use, the connection process will be similar across all devices.
To connect the AirPrint dongle to your iPad:
Plug the printer into power
Connect the AirPrint dongle to your printer via the provided USB cable
Plug the AirPrint dongle into power
Check the AirPrint dongle for a light to confirm it is receiving power
Note: most AirPrint dongles have a light located near the USB port
Turn on your iPad
Navigate to the Settings app
Select Wifi from the left navigation menu
Select your AirPrint dongle from the Network menu
Once connected, navigate to your iPad’s internet browser app
Type in the AirPrint dongle’s address
Note: for the Aircast Pro 3, the address is aircastpro.local
From here, you can check to ensure your printer has connected successfully to the AirPrint dongle, and connect the AirPrint dongle to the internet if it is compatible.
To connect the AirPrint dongle to the internet:
Ensure the AirPrint dongle is connected to the iPad
Navigate to the AirPrint dongle’s address through the iPad’s internet browser app
Tap the internet options
Note: for the Aircast Pro 3, the internet options are located in the upper left
Select the wifi network you wish to connect to from the list
Input the password if prompted
Once the AirPrint dongle is connected to the internet, your iPad will be able to share texts, emails, and more without any issue in connection!
Note: AirPrint dongles sometimes have issues connecting to Wifi hotspots or wifi connections with certain network security features. If possible, always test beforehand or utilize Fiesta’s Offline Mode.
Step Three
Start Printing Through Fiesta
Once AirPrint has been set up in the Fiesta App and the AirPrint dongle has been connected, the next step is to connect the printer to the app and ensure everything is printing properly.
To connect your AirPrint Dongle with your Fiesta event:
Ensure your AirPrint dongle is connected to your iPad
Launch the Fiesta iOS Software
Select the event you wish to Airprint from
Select Configure Event
Select the Sharing tab
Select Printing from the left navigation menu
Turn the Use Chips As Default Printer off if it is on
Tap the Select default printer section
Select your printer from the drop down menu
Note: multiple printer options may be shown. Make sure to select the print size (2x6, 4x6, etc) that matches your capture size
What To Know
Advanced Settings
After the AirPrint settings are set up and the AirPrint dongle is connected, occasionally the ratio or size will be off. The Advanced Settings allow you to fine-tune the ratio and size in case they are off.
To adjust the Scale:
Log in to the Fiesta App
Select the event you wish to adjust the size settings
Select the Sharing tab
Select Printing from the left navigation menu
Select Advanced Settings
Adjust the Scale using the + and - buttons
To adjust the x and y Offset:
Log in to the Fiesta App
Select the event you wish to adjust the x and y offset
Select the Sharing tab
Select Printing from the left navigation menu
Select Advanced Settings
Adjust the x or y offset using the + and - buttons
Note: we recommend adjusting these in larger increments first, then smaller increments until the desired size and position are achieved.
What To Know
AirPrint Connection Issues
If you are experiencing issues connecting your AirPrint dongle, or if it is connected but the app will not print, here are a few things you can try:
If the AirPrint Dongle is failing to connect before connecting to wifi:
Ensure the AirPrint dongle is connected to power and turned on
Unplug the AirPrint dongle, wait 30 seconds, and plug back in
Check your iPad Security settings
If the AirPrint dongle is failing to connect after connecting to wifi:
Ensure your iPad is connected to the AirPrint dongle
Note: with some dongles, the iPad must be separately connected to the wifi connection. In this case, ensure the iPad is connected to the same wifi network as the Airprint dongle
Ensure the AirPrint dongle is connected to power and turned on
Check your iPad Security settings
Remove the AirPrint dongle from wifi and try to reconnect
If the issue persists, run the Fiesta event in Offline mode
If the Fiesta App is failing to connect to the AirPrint dongle:
Check your iPad Security settings
Check your AirPrint dongle settings to ensure the printer is connected
Check the USB connection between the AirPrint dongle and the printer
If the Fiesta App is failing to print after connected to the AirPrint dongle:
Check your iPad Security settings
Check the AirPrint settings in the Fiesta App
Ensure the correct print size is selected from the default printer dropdown
