What Are Photo Templates?
A Photo Template is a single image that has one or more photo captures placed in specific locations on top of a background.
What To Know
Photo Templates – also known as Print Templates – can be sent digitally or printed with AirPrint
If planning to print, be sure to use the standard print sizes that match what your printer supports
Virtual Booth does not support Photo Templates

Note: Single Photo Templates are similar to overlays, however will only apply to the photo captures
How To
Create A Photo Template
The Salsa web app allows for creating photo templates using the Photo Template Editor.
To access the Photo Template Editor:
Log in to the Salsa Web App
Select an event or create a new event
Click Configure Event
Click the Capture Settings tab
Click Edit next to Photo
Click Create New Template
From here you can click Use Template Library to select one of the pre-made template designs.
Note: Use the dropdown menu (“Show All”) to filter the layouts for specific aspect ratios.
How To
Add A Custom Photo Template Background
If you already designed the perfect photo template background for your event in another app, you can upload it directly to the event.
To add a custom Photo Template background:
Log in to the Salsa Web App
Select an event or create a new event
Click Configure Event
Click Event Capture Settings
Click the Settings gear in the Photo tile
Click Create New Template
Click Use Template Library
Select the Photo Layout that matches the dimensions of your custom background
Click the blank template
Click the Plus (+) button and click Select Background
Select a previously uploaded background from your Asset Library or click Upload File to upload a new background from your computer
Photo Template background files can be either JPG or PNG format.
For the best results, upload a background that matches the dimensions of the selected template.
How To
Add A Custom Photo Template Overlay
Adding a Photo Template overlay will place the image or graphic on top of the photo captures.
It is important that overlays are in PNG format with transparencies so that the photo captures can still be seen.
If you already designed the perfect photo template overlay for your event in another app, you can upload it directly to the event.
To add a custom Photo Template overlay:
Log in to the Salsa Web App
Select an event or create a new event
Click Configure Event
Click Capture Settings
Select Photo
Click Edit
Click Create New Template
Click Use Template Library
Select the Photo Layout that matches the dimensions of your overlay file
Click the blank template
Click the Plus (+) button and click the Select Overlay tab
Click Select Overlay
Select a previously uploaded overlay from your Asset Library or click Upload File to upload a new overlay from your computer
For the best results, upload an overlay that matches the dimensions of the selected template.
How To
Edit The Template Design Or Photo Layout
After creating a Photo Template you may need to change the layout, background, or overlay.
You can either create a new template or edit the event’s existing template.
To start:
Log in to the Salsa Web App
Select your event
Click Configure Event
Click Event Capture Settings
Click the Settings gear in the Photo tile
To change the layout:
Click Use Template Library
Select a new Photo Layout
Note: You will need to redesign the photo template if you choose a different layout
To change the background or overlay:
Click Edit Current Design
Click the background or overlay you want to change and click the Trash icon to remove it
Click the Plus (+) button and select a new background or overlay
What To Know
How Multiple Captures Are Saved
When capturing photos using a Photo Template, Salsa will save the completed photo template, as well as each individual photo.
This will allow you to have the full-size originals to provide to your client.
While guests will only be presented with the Photo Template on the immediate share screen, you can provide them the option to send individual captures from the Gallery Mode.

Salsa’s Photo Template Editor allows you to create your own custom template directly from the Salsa web app or edit one of the many pre-designed templates from the Salsa Asset Library.
If you’re more comfortable creating the assets for a photo template in Photoshop or Canva, you can use the Blank Photo Template Layouts as a reference or guide when designing your own backgrounds and overlays.
